I am a research chemist in The Department of Civil and Structural Engineering, at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University with primary interest in environmental science and engineering. I got my B.Sc degree in 1991, and Ph.D. degree in 1998. I am involved with joining a variety of research projects in the Civil Engineering Department of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and The Deaprtment of Environmental Science and Engineering at Nanjing University.

My research experience has covered a wide range of topics in

  • Treatment of wastewater, hazardous wastes and contaminated sites using physical, chemical and biological techniques, especially by using solidification/stabilization and modified organic clay;
  • Soil contamination and soil environmental chemistry, particularly of the speciation, biogeochemistry, bioaccumulation and bioavailability of metals in agricultural ecosystem;
  • Aquatic contamination and aquatic environemntal chemistry, particularly the speciation, bioaccumulation and bioavailability of comtaminants in aquatic ecosystem;
  • Ecotoxicology study on metals to aquatic organisms.

My current research project involves to treat heavy metal waste sludge by using solidification/ stabilization technology.
